River Bluff High School’s Center for Law and Global Policy Development will participate for the first time in the Clemson University Model United Nations Conference. This conference will be taking place October 20-22 at Clemson University.
Students engage in an academic simulation of the United Nations in which they will represent a UN member-state on a UN committee in an effort to address global issues. Through this event, students will improve public speaking and oral debate skills, increase their understanding of international relations, and develop their diplomatic and leadership skills.
The total cost for this event is $2500 with a goal is to keep it under $100 per student. The cost will cover the delegate fee for the conference, transportation to and from Clemson University, lodging, and possibly meals.
The immediate need is to fund the Clemson trip without putting undue fiscal pressure on students and their families while leaving enough funding to continue to provide the variety of learning experiences offered.
Lake and Main encourages individuals and businesses in the Lexington 1 school district to contribute to this opportunity.
