The Lexington County Coroner has identified the two people who died in a collision Monday night, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Lee Travis Rea, 21, of Lexington and Evan Davis Tyler, 19, of West Columbia were killed in the accident, which happened around 11 p.m. Monday night in the 200 block of Steele Road in West Columbia, Coroner Margaret Fisher said.
Autopsies will be performed Tuesday to determine cause of death, Fisher said.
Rea and Tyler were pronounced at the scene from the injuries they sustained in the accident, Fisher said.
The 1995 GMC “Jimmy” Rea and Tyler were traveling in drove off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole. The vehicle then overturned and landed in a nearby pond killing both of the vehicle’s occupants.
Both the driver and the passenger were wearing seat belts during the accident.
