The Lexington County Recreation and Aging Commission has launched its March for Meals campaign to raise money and awareness for the Meals on Wheels program.
March for Meals is a monthlong campaign that features several events designed to educate people about the Meals on Wheels program. The commission will apply for a grant at the end of the month to get up to $10,000 to put toward the program, which delivers meals to homebound seniors or seniors who are unable to prepare meals for themselves.
This months events include:
March Madness for Meals Basketball Tournament
9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Lexington Leisure Center
Cost is $30 per team of three
March for Meals Tennis Benefit
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center
Cost is $15 plus a canned food donation
Registration can be completed by emailing email@example.com with player’s name and level of play
Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser
7:30 to 10 a.m.
Applebee’s at 605 Columbia Ave. in Lexington
Tickets are $7 and must be purchased in advance.
